Biblical Fashion Advice (part 4 of 7) Wear your Body Armor

Daily "Words of Wisdom" from Apply Wisdom.com“Stand firm, therefore, with YOUR loins girded about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness, and with YOUR feet shod with the equipment of the good news of peace. Above all things, take up the large shield of faith, with which YOU will be able to quench all the wicked one’s burning missiles. Also, accept the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit, that is, God’s word (Ephesians 6:14-17).

Living each day in a way which honors our heavenly Father and mirrors His love to those around us is not an easy assignment.  Today’s scriptures was written by Paul while he was imprisoned in Rome.  No doubt Paul was inspired by his circumstances (imprisoned and guarded by a Roman soldier) to think of the struggle to be a good Christian as a war, one in which we need to dress ourselves like a soldier, prepared for daily battle with the world.

Ephesians 6 reminds us to have all of our clothes secured by the belt of truth, to wear righteousness over our hearts, to have our feet firmly planted on a solid foundation of peace.  We must accessorize by carrying a protective shield of faith, putting on the helmet of salvation, and brandishing the sword of the spirit of the word of God.  Note that all our clothing is defensive, passive, and protecting, except for the sword, which is the word of God.  We can swing and slash our way through the battle of life by using heartfelt, but true, loving words of wisdom from the scriptures.

Today, rather than putting on your favorite jeans and hoodie, dress like a soldier and get ready to lovingly win the war for your soul.
