Baptism Requires Submersion

Daily "Words of Wisdom" from Apply

During those days, Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized in the Jordan by John. And immediately on coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens being parted and, like a dove, the spirit coming down upon him. And a voice came out of the heavens: “You are my Son, the beloved; I have approved you” (Mark 1:9-10).

Baptism requires water submersion and coming out of the water.

Although the most important aspect of your baptism is your heart, the physical messiness of being submerged and wet and messy and “coming up out of the water” (Mark 1:10) makes being made new more symbolic, more real, and more like what Jesus did.

Again, I don’t want to put Yahweh in a box. But having a porn-addicted faker protestant minister splash a few drops on your forehead doesn’t cut it. You should do what Jesus did and Jesus was dunked and came out of the water.
