Salt and Light

Daily "Words of Wisdom" from Apply Wisdom.com“YOU are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its strength, how will its saltness be restored? It is no longer usable for anything but to be thrown outside to be trampled on by men. YOU are the light of the world. A city cannot be hid when situated upon a mountain.  People light a lamp and set it, not under the measuring basket, but upon the lampstand, and it shines upon all those in the house. Likewise let YOUR light shine before men, that they may see YOUR fine works and give glory to YOUR Father who is in the heavens.” (Matthew 5:13-14).

Salt. Let’s take a minute to think of salt as an illustration of “holiness and purity.” As Christians, we are supposed to be salty (holy and pure). Sadly, it only takes a second to ruin something holy or pure. And once it is ruined, dirty, and no longer salty (holy and pure), it takes so much more work to make it clean again. Jesus even says that the unsalty salt is good for nothing and is thrown outside. So please be careful to remain uncorrupted by this dirty world and to maintain your Christian saltiness (purity and holiness).

Light: Jesus further says that his disciples should let their love shine so brightly that when people see it, they would give glory to our heavenly Father.  So now you must ask yourself: Does the light of my love shine at all? Can others see, feel, experience the light of my love? And does my love shine so brightly that it brings Yahweh Glory?
