Don’t put religious ceremonies ahead of reflecting God’s love

Daily "Words of Wisdom" from Apply Wisdom.com

“If, then, you are bringing your gift to the altar and you there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar, and go away; first make your peace with your brother, and then, when you have come back, offer up your gift.” (Matthew 5:23-24).

God’s wisdom reminds us of the importance of being at peace with your family. A person might be doing something important for God… in this example a man is giving a gift at the altar. But even if he is doing something important for God, he must stop it immediately, go reconcile himself and be at peace with his brother.

Of course, we are to place our love to Yahweh as the first and foremost priority of our lives.  But if we are not reflecting God’s love and forgiveness to our own family then what is the point of our religion, what is the effectiveness of our religion?   Don’t put religious ceremonies ahead of reflecting God’s love to your family.
