Should a Christian Celebrate Halloween?

As Halloween is quickly approaching I want to take two days to address how True Christians do not celebrate Halloween.

Lets read a scripture from Deuteronomy…

“There should not be found in you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, anyone who employs divination, anyone practicing magic, anyone who looks for omens, a sorcerer, anyone binding others with a spell, anyone who consults a spirit medium or a fortune-teller, or anyone who inquires of the dead. For whoever does these things is detestable to Jehovah, and on account of these detestable practices Yahweh your God is driving them away from before you. You should prove yourself blameless before Yahweh your God.” (Deuteronomy 18:10-13)

Christians celebrate the festivals that Yahweh commands.  Halloween is not one of those festivals.  Halloween is a pagan celebration.  Its roots are pagan, dare we say evil, and do not honor Yahweh.  There is nothing wrong with dressing up in a costume.  But there is something wrong with dressing up in a costume if it is done while participating in a pagan tradition or if the costume itself honors what Yahweh detests.

The above scripture reminds us that Yahweh forbids witchcraft, sorcery, omen reading, and spiritism.  These are the hallmarks of Halloween.  This is why true Christians can’t celebrate Halloween.

Do you want Yahweh to detest you or do you want Yahweh to be proud of you?

Next week, simply don’t celebrate Halloween.  It is easy to not celebrate Halloween. If people are rude to you or mean to you then rejoice because you are doing it right (Matthew 5:11).

True Christians hate what is bad.O YOU lovers of Yahweh, hate what is bad” (Psalm 97:10)

Halloween is bad.  There is nothing Christian about celebrating a pagan holiday in honor of the dead.

Vampires, werewolves, witches, zombies and magic are so popular these days.  They are the subjects of the most popular movies and bestselling books.  People can’t get enough.  Let me clarify, pagan people can’t get enough.

Those who love God hate what is bad.  This means they hate Halloween because they hate what is evil.   Deuteronomy reminds us that Yahweh detests anyone who employs divination, anyone practicing magic, anyone who looks for omens, a sorcerer, anyone binding others with a spell, anyone who consults a spirit medium or a fortune-teller, or anyone who inquires of the dead” (Deuteronomy 18:10-13).

As Christians, we must love what is good and hate what is bad… even if everyone in our neighborhood or family is celebrating it.
