Don’t Misuse the Name of God (Yahweh)

Daily "Words of Wisdom" from Apply

“You must not take up the name of Yahweh your God in a worthless way, for Yahweh will not leave the one unpunished who takes up his name in a worthless way” (Exodus 20:7).

Most faker Christians don’t know that the 10 commandments are listed in two places in the bible: Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5. Most think that interpreting this commandment about misusing Yahweh’s name means we should never say things like “oh my god,” or in a moment of anger say “Jesus Christ!” Sure this is bad, and depending on the exact phrase, absolutely disrespectful. But the greater sin is when you profess to be a Christian but live a hypocritical and sinful life identical to the atheist next door. That is how you truly blaspheme the name of Yahweh.

Approximately 7000 times in our scriptures Yahweh is used. There is only one true God and Yahweh is his name. And this is a truth that every single human being who has ever lived will come to know (the hard way or the easy way). My prayer and hope is that you will accept this truth now and work to glorify the name of Yahweh from now on.
